Etymology

Two species from the same genus, why is it that lemons and limes are placed together in beverages and food? Well, it's because the chemicals they contain that make them sour and bitter (respectively) neutralize each other, leaving behind a slightly sweet taste.

Notes

Above all else, you should have a look at the underground multi-ravine complex. This could be a really nice playground for those who don't care about seeing the sun. The flatland in this one is nice.

Technical Details

Seed Number: -668 896 747
Version: XBL 1.4 (TU9) (no PC equiv)

Etymology

There is a series of books about two brothers, Frank and Joe, who solve various mysteries together called The Hardy Boys. They were actually written by multiple authors, but published under a single nom de plume: Franklin W. Dixon. The books have been published off and on since 1927 and feature every kind of crime imaginable. It's a very Cabot Cove affair where their home town only has like 1,000 people in it and yet the murder rate is the highest per capita of any city on the earth.

Notes

There's only really the one spot for cool mountains. Really, this seed is all about a deep, thick, lush forest that covers 80% of the map -- including some of the snow covered areas. There's also some tall, thin spires if you're into that sort of thing.

Villages

  • [340.75.340] village, x10 buildings, blacksmith, water well, x3 gold

Underground

  • [-333.40.-27] dungeon, spider, x2 chests, x3 red stone
  • [93.17.159] waterfall room
  • [143.38.152] dungeon, zombie, x2 chests

  • [-261.62.302] 1/2 & 1/2 wall with a hole in the middle of it
  • [-175.65.-141] lava pit

A linguist is someone who studies the grammar and structure of language -- how people speak and write.

Notes

I found something really cool on this level: while rooting around I found a library that had a hole in the wall that exposed the bookshelves to a nearby lava lake. As a result, when I arrived, the library was going up in flames. That was something I had never seen before, so it made the list.

Etymology

You know when you're launching a brand new video game console and you forget to register the domain name for said console -- then someone from England registers the name and holds it hostage for a couple thousand dollars? Yeah, neither do I. But Microsoft does. Henceforth, such monumentally obtuse feats will be referred to as "pulling an x-bone".

Notes

A stunning level. There are some killer extreme hills, a few great old-school overhangs, a massive flat expanse of desert, and a large ravine/cave system with tons to see and do. Not to mention two villages with enough free obsidian in their chests to make a nether portal. All-in-all, a great seed with a little something for everybody.

Villages

  • [276.75.324] village, x6 buildings, guard tower, blacksmith, water well, x6 obsidian
  • [-154.70.261] village, x12 buildings, water well, guard tower, blacksmith, also has x6 obsidian

  • [20.61.62] dungeon, spider, x1 chest, music disk #13
  • [-190.27.348] t-shaped deep ravine intersection, x3 gold

  • [199.70.350] pumpkins
  • [374.69.379] lava pit
  • [334.70.188] massive flat desert
  • [257.65.-83] land bridge, small waterfall
  • [106.116.-320] excellent large butte

Etymology

Key Largo is one of my favorite movies. While trying to escape from the United States, some mobsters end up in a hotel on the tiny island of Key Largo in Florida just as a hurricane strikes. Stuck and desperate, they take the hotel's patrons hostage.

Notes

I found a surface dungeon, but accidentally destroyed the spawner before I could see what type of dungeon it was. Later, I found a huge village and many pumpkin patches.
